Picture is worth a thousand words

Concert ( New Years Eve)

My picture was taken on December 31st 2011 at around 11:00 pm. We were bringing in the New Year at the Den in Monett. A Hope For Redemption, a band my Fiancé was in played at this event along with some others. To previous shows a girl named Crystal Martinez had taken alot of the pictures, I am assuming she also took this picture. I am somewhere in the crowd but you cannot see me but to list the guys off the guy on the far right is Thomas Portwood, next to him is Shane Brockman he is not in the band but is one of the band friends who knew the words and jumped on stage. The guy beside Shane Brockman is Avery I'm not sure what his lastname but he plays bass, the guy with white pants is lead guitarist and his name is Zach Bailey, last but not least the guy with short blonde hairs name is Tyler Myers and he plays rhythm guitar. These guys are passionate about what they do and preach the word through heavy music.

  1. As you can see we are at this fantastic concert that is taking place in someone’s garage. It is all quite interesting up until all these people start crowing around me and which makes me nervous. It seems very random on why most of the guys would have guitars opposed to something different, maybe after the show I will ask them why. The song that is playing is your average head banging song, so it catches everyone’s attention very fast, people start taking pictures, singing along, and most importantly just doing what they do to have fun. Although I notice around me some of the people aren’t really enjoying the music, which kind of brings me down and makes me wonder, why even pay to come into the concert if you’re not going to like it. But I guess that is just like for some people. However for me I absolutely love the songs that the band plays, you will find me somewhere close to the front head banging along with everyone else or even taking pictures of the guys performing on stage. Sometimes it’s always better to bring friends with you, which today I didn’t since it was a local gig, but by the time the last song was almost over, the band was tired and so were the people who came to view everything.

  2. it’s a Saturday night at the den in Monett, Missouri and for the entertainment that night we have a small home town band. The crowd is bigger than anticipated but they are ready none of the less. They are nervous but they expect good things. As the manager of the den calms everyone the room becomes silent and kids in the crowd get antsy. The silence is broken with the fast strums of a bass guitar bum bum bum bum bum then the drums and next the guitar they all continue to play as they are introduced then when the introduction is finished they start playing. A great song speaking to the soles of every kid in the crowed, well those who can understand it

  3. Haley: It’s Saturday night and the lights are turned way down low. The crowd keeps cheering our name and we can hear our heart beat in our ears. We started the beginning of our first song, electric guitar solo, and the crowd goes silent. 10 seconds in, the drums begin to pick up the beat. The lights turn on fast, they flash bright neon colors across the whole crowd. We begin to sing and the crowd goes crazy once again. We finish the song and the crowd never stopped cheering. We have so much adrenaline that we are ready for the second song without any hesitation. When the night was over we were drenched in sweat and our voices ached, but it was all worth it. We had so much fun and our fans loved us. When the lights began to shut off the crowd started to scream, “ENCORE, ENCORE, ENCORE!” We couldn’t let our fans down. With one more burst of adrenaline we sang our hearts out with the very last song. Memories of that night will be distilled in my thoughts forever.

  4. It was around summer time when her favorite band came to town. Hailey was so excited when she heard the news that she told herself that she had to be at the place where her favorite band was playing. Before Hailey could get out of the house her mom told her that she had to finish her chores before she could leave. Hailey knew that if she were to do her chores then she would miss at least the first half of the songs her band was going to play but if she didn’t do her chores then she would miss the band altogether. So Hailey decided that she was going to finish her chores really fast and it was three in the afternoon when she was done. Hailey went to her bedroom and prepared her outfit and rushed out the house. Hailey scolded herself that she should have done her chores faster because now she was going to be late for the songs. When she got there, her band was nowhere to be seen. Disappointed, she dragged herself back to her car and right when she was about to open her car door she heard the familiar sound of guitar echoing. She looked on the stage and sure enough her band was there and they were only starting. Hailey was speechless that every part of her just wanted to scream. She didn’t miss any of their song and she was one of the earlier ones to show up which means she would get the best spot in the house.

  5. Drums rolling, bass beating, vocal singing sensation Christian bands compete in the Battle of Jesus Christ for best rock music of the day. Thomas Portwood is their lead guitarist and rock the crowd with his amazing skills. Haley, his fiancée, stands in the crowd and cheer on the insanity of the song being played by The Dwellers. Although they are poorly dressed, The Dwellers came out as the best that night and took first place home. Haley and Thomas celebrated by dining out at the local coffee shop and enjoy the night of romance. They return home and kiss each other good night and head off to bed. Dang. School tomorrow and tonight was probably one of the best nights to remember. At least she wouldn’t be bothered by the irritating students of Pierce City Middle and High School about the band.

  6. Today was the day. All the guys had finally made it big; they were opening for The Jonas Brothers in Chicago and everyone had pre-show jitters. Kevin had on his signature white pants and was ready to rock. He wanted so badly to be Kevin (Jonas’) double for shows that the eldest brother could not make it to. He had been told for years that he and Kevin could have been twins, and now was his chance to pursue that dream.
“One, two, and a one, two, three, four!” yelled the voice of one of the other guitarists and Kevin lost himself in the song. Never had his performance been so seamless, nor had he ever poured his heart into a song so powerfully.
After the show was over, the three brothers thanked the band for opening for them and Kevin (Jonas) hesitated when he shook Kevin’s (regular old Kevin, Kevin) hand.
“Dude, it’s like looking in a mirror!” Regular Kevin grinned as he shook the other Kevin’s hand. “And by the way, you’re really talented. You guys should all play with us in our next show in LA next week.”
Three years later Kevin2 was formed, with both Kevin’s hitting the road together as a 2-man band.

  7. Tyrannosaurus Rocks was the last act of the concert and nothing was going right. Much of the audience had left after the act before. The set started out okay until Tony tripped over one of the cords and ripped his pants on a speaker. Then the lead singer got so hot he started to heave on the corner of the stage. In an effort to cool him down, the backup attempted to turn on the ceiling fan while still trying to entertain the already confused audience. Not to mention Harry had been so blinded by the strobe lights that he couldn’t tell which way the crowd was and was seconds away from colliding with Axel right in the middle of the stage.

  8. A band is playing is playing at a church not far away from Monett. The concert starts off with a hard-core christen rap song. Not even half way through the song the lead singer starts crowd surfing. This seems really hard to do in this situation considering the band is 2-feet lower than the crowd, but he does it! After a few more moments the lead guitarist does the same, but the crowd didn’t see him coming so he crashed and burned at face planted on the ground. Sirens start going off in the distance. Then it goes dead silent.. And the lead singer says over the mic, “Oh jeeze, not again..”

  9. Haley: Every Saturday night is Haley and Thomas’ date night and every night is the same. Concert. Thomas began to feel guilty because he thought that maybe Haley didn’t like going to watch him and his band playing music for a bunch of twelve year old girls but to his surprise she actually enjoys it. Not only does she like the fact that she’s getting married to a crazy drummer but she also enjoys the back stage view of the band.

  10. This is the first for many to see this wonderful band together making music together. This was centered on a passion for music that as it seems is insatiable to millions who listen to music every day for hours at a time whether it’s a radio or a cd or even old cassette music will survive through time. These new rockers in the world had shared the one thing that makes the blood either rush to our face or stop dead it our veins or let it slowly chug along as if a peaceful presence calmed it.

  11. Hailey- Hailey’s boyfriend does scream music and is in a band. Well in this picture, Hailey’s boyfriend (Thomas) was doing a concert in front of what looks to be a small crowd. They seem very energetic and enthusiastic onstage, but the crowd doesn’t really seem excited or very into it. Where they are playing it looks to be inside of a small church or something.
